Sustainability

Policies and behaviors of yesteryear have lead to increased global temperatures, rising ocean levels, and the deaths of many animal species. Unless we implement bold, wide sweeping sustainability policy changes the next generations are going to pay the price.

Broomfield is already feeling the effects of climate change: our summers are hotter, smoke from wildfires in the state and, across the county are more rampant lowering our air quality. This has forced many to reduce the number of days they can enjoy our city and states outdoors. As your city council member I pledge to:

  • Expand recycling programs at apartment complexes

  • Create a city composting program

  • Ban the use of Styrofoam at businesses

  • Expand the use of renewable energies as a source of power for business and residential properties

  • Create programs to upgrade household appliances to more energy efficient ones

  • Continue to institute policies that protect our residents from oil and gas drilling

  • Support our communities open space goals

We only have ONE planet, and we must protect it. We can and will do better as city to protect ourselves against this threat. As your city councilmember I will fight to protect Broomfield's open spaces, and make us a leader in creating and maintaining sustainable cities.
