HOUSING

Housing in Broomfield, like the rest of the Front Range, has presented challenges to our residents. Rents and home prices have increased substantially over the past few years due to a shortage in supply and the building of luxury units, causing people to spend more per paycheck just to afford where they currently live. We must address this issue by building for all people and not just the rich.

  • Require at least 20% of new construction be for affordable units

  • Study the creation of rent controlled units

  • Build to match housing demand

  • Eliminate zoning for large, single family homes in favor of denser townhomes, condos, and apartments

  • Eliminate parking minimums in favor or setting parking maximums

  • Commit to the 15 minute city

Broomfield is a place for everyone, but if we do not address the issues of affordable housing our community will suffer. People who've been rooted in Broomfield for years should not be priced out of their homes, and those who want to move to our great community should not be barred just because of they don't make six figure incomes. As your city council member I will work to protect everyone's right to live in this city.
